CUBAN EMBARGO. BIG- OIL and GLOBAL WARMING
The United States trades with Communist China, so why not Cuba? There is a sick but logical answer. Sherlock Holmes said “first look for he who will benefit”, or “Cui Bono” which is another way of saying the same thing.
Cuba's main business is growing sugarcane. Using sugar is the cheapest and most practical way to produce ethanol. Every year from an acre of sugarcane you can produce 750 gallons of ready-to-use ethanol. (And it can be done organically.)
If Cuba was allowed to trade freely with the US it could supply ethanol to US motorists at half the price you now pay for gasoline.
When you look at the figures for Cuba you find that 75% of Cuba is sugar cane country. That's like a paddock one hundred and seventy miles square. It would produce enough to continuously run 30 million cars on straight ethanol. Or 35 million cars on E85, which a lot of modern American cars are designed for
It is thus very logical for the oil conglomerates and the Middle East oil states to insist, and demand, and to connive, to insure that the Cuban Embargo continues indefinitely.
Other things have also been “arranged” that suit the oil companies. There is a 2.5% duty on imported oil and imported ethanol into the US. So on face value that seems fair but, (and it's a big “but”) if you import ethanol you pay an additional 54 cents duty on every gallon imported.
Corn farmers and the oil conglomerates in the US are now subsidized to produce and blend ethanol from corn. The costs have been astronomical and the impact is that a just a tiny 1.5% of US fuel is derived from corn farming. Coincidently, the oil industries' corn ethanol subsidies appear more than sufficient to offset the 1.5% loss in oil sales revenues.
WHAT TO DO ? First eliminate the 54 cents penalty on imported ethanol from anywhere in the World. Secondly, eliminate the trade embargo on Cuba - at least on sugar and ethanol. And lastly, because it would be political impossible to cancel, maintain the corn subsidies to American farmers.

The guaranteed way to make ending global warming happen is to switch to biofuels for transport and nuclear energy for industrial power. That ends carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere.
Then we increase the humus content of our soils by changing to organic type agriculture. That soil building process extracts the excess carbon dioxide from the air. And we have won.
In all this, the fossil fuel people are the losers, and they know it. So like Pavlov's dogs they condition us to love tropical rain forests, and to fear nuclear energy and to absolutely and always believe in chemical agriculture.
(and if they don't, they're incompetent)
You can ask any question on global warming and climate change and I'll do my best to answer it.

Let's use our heads, think logically and get our friends to visit here. Let's have action.
consider this ------
TRANSPORT FUELS
Ethanol is cheaper than gasoline when oil is over US$85 (or say Euros60) a barrel. Sugarcane is the best crop because you harvest the sap not the seeds.
Oil palms are the best and cheapest producer of vegetable oil. Biodiesel is a chemical blend of ethanol and vegetable oil.
Sugarcane and oil palms convert sunlight to motor fuel. They both grow best in the hot wet tropics, that's where tropical rain forests always dominate.
A good farm in the tropics can produce 2000 gallons of ethanol a year (7500 litres) or it can produce 1200 gallons of palm oil (4500 litres).
So the green movement establishment, insists we fence off every square inch of stinking jungles to protect some possibly endangered yellow spotted butterfly. Rubbish. In truth they're really blindly protecting oil barons and oil sheiks.
How to make the switch happen? Place a tariff on every barrel of oil to keep it above $65 a barrel. Remove all taxes and tariffs on biofuels from anywhere. Then, if you like use money from petroleum taxes to subsidize local farmers to easily compete with imported biofuels. And we can also keep our cars.
It's a win, win, win.
INDUSTRIAL POWER
Go nuclear.
Understand that wind, wave and solar are PR fictions. The numbers just don't add up.
We can only power our industrial world on fossil fuels or nuclear energy. We have to chose, either global warming and never ending catastrophic climate changes with fossil fuels, or nuclear energy.
Nuclear waste?
By running on fossil fuels you would produce, in your life time a billion litres of carbon dioxide. Running on nuclear energy your life time production of high level nuclear waste is just one eggcup full. The pro-oil pro-fossil fuel lobby argue it's safe to bury a thousand million litres of leaky gas in the ground forever! If that is remotely possible then surly it's safe to put an eggcup full of nuclear waste (that incidentally burns itself out in a few centauries) down the same hole.
Otherwise dump it in deep ocean subduction zones. They're like volcanoes in reverse that suck materials into the Earth's molten interior. (For details on nuclear energy see The Sabotaging of Nuclear Energy in my book PRIORITY ONE at www.yeomansconcepts.com.au
(It's free to read on line. These are all "pro bono publico" web sites)
Weapons Proliferation?
Today half the population of the world live in countries that have nuclear weapons, China, India, Pakistan, Russia, France, England, Israel, (South Africa did) North Koreia and the United States and we don't know what other rogue states have them,or are building them.
Half of the rest of the people on Earth right now live in countries that have nuclear power stations or nuclear research reactors. Sixty-five countries have nuclear reactors now. They are not hard to build, bombs on the other hand are quite difficult.
Over half the population of the world live in countries already producing nuclear power. If just the countries with weapons converted totally to nuclear generated electricity and the rest of us all converted to fertility farming and biofuels then global warming would end tomorrow.
Sustainability?
We have supplies for at least several million years. Uranium and thorium are excellent nuclear fuels. In total they are almost as plentiful as common lead.
Radiation Dangers?
It's like sunshine, too much can kill you, but none at all is also a health hazard. Guarapari is a beach health resort near Sao Paulo in Brazil. Radiation levels on the beach are over one hundred times those in the fenced off areas around Chernobyl. People pay to lay on the beaches at Guarapari. Fossil fuel PR fiction says any radiation is bad. That is a deliberate lie. We use nuclear radiation to cure cancer. It takes a lot of radiation to actally cause it.
REMOVING THE CARBON DIOXIDE ALREADY THERE
That too is easy. We increase the fertility of our agricultural soils. We do what nature does. In essence here's how it works.
Carbon dioxide in the air is the primary source of the carbon that forms the building blocks for all living things. With the aid of the chlorophyll in plant leaves, carbon dioxide gas is absorbed and with some water and warm sunlight energy, gets converted into plant material. Eventually the plant, or parts of the plant dies. In the correct environment soil microbes, fungi and earthworms convert this material into rich humus. That is the only way topsoil is ever created.
Thus by increasing the fertility of our soils we extracts huge quantities of carbon dioxide from our atmosphere.
" Raise the humus content of the world's agricultural soils by one tenth of one percentage point a year, and we peg CO2 levels as of today. Raise them by one point six percentage points and we get our atmosphere completely back to normal. Global warming is then finished ." Allan Yeomans 1989.
In general, and unfortunately, agricultural fertilizers and chemicals kill soil microbes, soil fungi and earthworms. It is impossible to rapidly increase the health and fertility of our soils while continuing to dose our lands with these powerful chemicals. That's why it's urgent that we switch completely to organic type farming.
The process and how it can be enhanced is detailed in PRIORITY ONE Together We Can Beat Global Warming. Read it free online at www.yeomansplow.com.au
Let's stop kidding ourselves .
If we stay with fossil fuels, if we stay with chemical agriculture, then we are consciously deciding to stay with ever increasing global warming.
That's not on. Let's make the decisions. Let's fix it.
The world needs the help of any organization that can challenge deliberately misdirected environmentalism.
Put on your thinking caps. Can you help? . Tell us your thoughts.
In the mean time, please get your friends to come here and look, see and think!

GRIST, GLOBAL WARMING IS A HOAX ( or Google it ) Coby Beck advises on HOW TO TALK TO A CLIMATE SKEPTIC Contains information you need to counter the media's long campaign to mitigate general public acceptance of global warming reality. GRIST is a general environmental web site. It appears reasonably immune to influence by the fossil carbon lobby.
